HIV AIDS Stats Alberta:
- In the first half of 2008 there were 102 newly diagnosed cases of HIV in Alberta alone.
- Rate of HIV in the first 6 months of 2008 was 2.94 cases per 100,000.
- The highest rates of HIV were seen in the Capital region (Edmonton).
- Males have a higher rate of infection than females.
- Those in the ages of 30 -39 have the highest rate of infection for HIV.
- For males the highest infection rate is seen between the ages of 20 and 24.
HIV/AIDS Stats Canada:
- It was estimated that at the end of 2005 there were 58,000 people in Canada living with HIV/Aids.
- There were 2,432 newly reported cases in 2007.
